Language & etymology
What the name means.
Abba is Aramaic, not Hebrew, although written in the same script. It is a form of ab, “father,” preserved in the Greek New Testament. It expresses filial prayer; reducing it simply to “Daddy” understates its use. The calculation uses traditional Hebrew-script letter values.
Gematria
The numeric value.
Aleph 1 + Bet 2 + Aleph 1 = 4
Numeric value is a traditional interpretive practice; it is not the word’s etymology and does not establish doctrine.
Aramaic & Semitic character
