Language & etymology
What the name means.
YHWH is closely connected in Exodus 3 with hayah, the Hebrew verb “to be.” “Yahweh” is a widely used scholarly reconstruction; the full ancient pronunciation is not known with certainty. Most English Bibles render the name as LORD in small capitals.
Gematria
The numeric value.
Yod 10 + He 5 + Vav 6 + He 5 = 26
Numeric value is a traditional interpretive practice; it is not the word’s etymology and does not establish doctrine.
