Language & etymology
What the name means.
Ro’i means “my shepherd,” from ra‘ah, “to tend or shepherd.” This is the wording of Psalm 23:1. Its ayin makes it distinct from ro’i spelled with aleph, which relates to seeing.
Gematria
The numeric value.
YHWH 26 + Resh 200 + Ayin 70 + Yod 10 = 306
Numeric value is a traditional interpretive practice; it is not the word’s etymology and does not establish doctrine.
Paleo-Hebrew character
A devotional reflection.
The Paleo-Hebrew images offer a devotional picture of watchful care; they do not create the phrase’s grammar.
